RESIPI : SALISBURY STEAK

Salisbury Steak

INGREDIENTS

FOR PATTIES

• 1 lb. ground beef
• 1 egg
• 1/3 c. breadcrumbs
• 1 tbsp. ketchup
• 1 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
• 1 Garlic clove, minced
• 1 tbsp. olive oil
• kosher salt
• Freshly ground black pepper

FOR GRAVY

• 2 tbsp. unsalted butter
• 2 sprigs thyme
• 1 onion, chopped
• 1/2 c. Mushrooms, thinly sliced
• 2 tbsp. all purpose flour
• 1 c. beef stock
• 1 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
• 1 tbsp. tomato paste
• kosher salt
• Freshly ground black pepper

DIRECTIONS

1. 
   

• Make patties: In a large bowl, combine beef, egg, breadcrumbs, ketchup, worcestershire sauce and garlic. Season with salt and pepper and form into 4 oval patties.
• In a large skillet over medium heat, heat oil. Sear both sides of the patties, about 5 minutes per side, until a crust forms. Remove onto a plate.
• Wipe out skillet and add butter. Add onions and thyme to the skillet and stir until onion becomes translucent. Add mushrooms and cook until browned and tender, about 4 minutes. Sprinkle onions and mushrooms with flour, and stir until they are fully coated. Cook another 2 minutes, then add Worcestershire sauce, tomato paste, and beef stock. Stir to combine and season with salt and pepper.
• Bring the gravy to a simmer and return the patties to the skillet. Cover and cook for 10-15 more minutes, until the patties are done and the sauce has thickened. Plate the patties and top with more gravy. Serve.

• 63 Building

For a long time 63 Building used to be tallest building in Korea (63 floors). It’s no longer the tallest, but it still has the world’s tallest art gallery, a great view of the Han River, and a shiny gold outside for people to saw “Oooo pretty!” (Lots of other stuff too.) How to get there: Yeouido Station (Line 5 – Exit 5 – Free Shuttle Bus). Daebang Station (Line 1 – Exit 4 – Free Shuttle Bus). Yeouinaru Station (Line 5 – Exit 4 – Free Shuttle Bus).

 

• Cheong Gyecheong

This used to be a stream for 3rd world Koreans to dump doo doo in (no seriously). But now it’s been transformed into one of the prettiest places in Seoul! Highly recommended if you like to just chill out (aka everyone except your high-strung boss).
How to get there: Gwanghwamun Station (Line 5 – Exit 5) (Many others, but we recommend starting here.)

 

• King Seojeon Monument

Most famous for creating the Korean writing system (Hangul), King Sejong the Great is the man! We’re going to go out on a limb and say he’s probably the most famous person in the history of Korea (take that Psy!). Don’t forget to visit the (semi-secret) museum underneath the monument.
How to get there: Gwanghwamun Station (Line 5 – Exit 2). Gyeongbokgung Station (Line 3 – Exit 5).

 

• Admiral Yi Shu Shin Monument

Admiral Yi ranks right up there with King Sejong the Great as one of the coolest figures in the history of Korea. He’s on the 100 won coin because of his status as an all time badass legendary hero of Korean military history. Even if this stuff doesn’t interest you, you can’t deny that his statue is one badass statue!
How to get there: Gwanghwamun Station (Line 5 – Exit 2). Gyeongbokgung Station (Line 3 – Exit 5).

 

• Banpodaegyo

Banpodaegyo (Banpo Bridge) is the world’s longest fountain bridge. It holds many different types of shows from morning to night, but the most beautiful show is the light show during the night! So bring your date, sit back, and enjoy the light show!
How to get there: Dongjak Station (동작역, Seoul Subway Line 4), go out of exit 1 or 2. You can’t miss it, you will be on a bridge.

If you want to escape the Sydney’s hustle and bustle head straight to the Open Air Square which is surrounded by restaurants, cafes & bars. A place dedicated to meet friends, have a chat with strangers or just enjoy espresso by yourself observing others. Apart from hosting a shopping complex World Square is home to various hotels, office buildings, residential apartment towers and a radio station / studio.

PADDY'S MARKET

Shopping in heart of Sydney for bargain prices? If you think it is impossible you are wrong. Head south from Town Hall station just few minutes and you’ll arrive to Chinatown, opposite Capitol Square. In place called Paddy’s market you will find anything from toys, souvenirs, fashion to electronics or vegetables & seafood. 

 Sometimes it is difficult to walk through especially in the afternoon. If you like to negotiate than this piece of Chinese land would be a heaven for you. Best deals, special offers and much more just at Paddy’s Market. While you are already in Chinatown why not to try some authentic Chinese noodles in near delicious restaurants? A tip for you: go to Paddy’s 30 minutes before they close & get vegetables and fruits for sale price because they have to get rid of it.

WESTFIELD SHOPPING CENTRE

Just at the end of the Queen Victoria Building, on the corner of Market and George Street is a modern shopping centre Westfield packed with everything what stylish market place has to offer. Consider the Sydney Tower in the complex as a bonus activity, there is not many places like this in the world. Get a ticket to a restaurant & bar with the best view in Sydney and make your shopping experience unique. Move yourself to completely different level just in few moments. Surrounded by Pitt Street Mall, the QVB, the Strand Arcade and shops on Martins Place it could be difficult to decide where to shop but Westfield Sydney Central Plaza is always a good option. Across the Market street visit Sydney State Theatre playing most cutting edge theatre and music productions.

BONDI JUNCTION WESTFIELD 

It is not directly in the CBD but close enough to take a bus or train service. Accessible by car with over 3000 parking spots available for customers. Spend morning on the famous Bondi Beach and get ready for unique afternoon shopping experience. There is probably no better place to do some serious shopping in Sydney than in Westfield at Bondi Junction. It is a huge six level complex (eight levels total with parking) full of shops. Sydney’s transportation hub is a big benefit for those who depends on public transportation. Broadway Shopping Centre is known for it’s often sales and premium quality goods. Despite the redevelopment it is still open to public with some safety arrangements offering over 270 retailers, food courts and free parking. RESIPI : Spicy Shrimp With Creamy Polenta

INGREDIENTS

• kosher salt
• 1 c. polenta or yellow cornmeal
• 2 tbsp. butter
• 1/3 c. freshly grated Parmesan
• 1/3 c. freshly grated Asiago
• 2 tbsp. extra-virgin olive oil
• 3 cloves garlic, minced
• 1/2 tsp. crushed red pepper flakes, plus more for garnish
• 3 green onions, thinly sliced, whites and greens separated
• 1 pt. grape tomatoes, halved
• 1 lb. medium shrimp, peeled and deveined (tails left on, if desired)
• 2 tsp. fresh thyme leaves
• 1/2 c. dry white wine
• 1/2 c. chicken stock
• 2 tbsp. heavy cream

DIRECTIONS

• In a medium, heavy-bottomed saucepan, bring salt and 4 cups water to a boil. Add polenta in a slow, steady stream, whisking constantly. Continue to whisk 2 minutes more, then reduce heat and simmer, covered, 20 minutes, whisking occasionally. Remove from heat and whisk in butter and cheese, then season with salt.
• In a large skillet over medium-high heat, heat oil. Add garlic, red pepper flakes, and green onion whites and cook, stirring occasionally, until fragrant, 2 minutes. Add tomatoes and cook until soft, stirring, 4 minutes.
• Add shrimp and thyme and cook until shrimp are completely pink, stirring, 4 minutes, then season with salt and pepper. Add wine and chicken stock and bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low and simmer until liquid is reduced by half, 2 to 3 minutes. Stir in cream and simmer 2 minutes more.
• Serve shrimp over polenta and garnish with remaining green onion greens.
